Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is recruiting to fill a Civil Engineer Transportation Senior (Utility Engineer) position located in the Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) Northeast Region!
This position is headquartered in Green Bay , WI at 944 Vanderperren Way.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the utility coordination in the development of highway improvement projects in accordance with the established facilities development process and pertinent rules and regulations. This position primarily performs utility coordination and delivery of the region's most complex projects but does include projects of all levels. This position applies a broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the areas of design, real estate and construction associated with highway improvement projects that have utility concerns or impacts. These engineering practices and principals are also applied in the areas highway design, utility design, cost reduction initiatives, claims, change orders and budgets. This position serves as an engineering resource to project managers and regional utility coordinators to resolve utility, design and construction conflicts. It also serves on, or as a resource to, groups developing utility policy and procedures on a state-wide basis. It is also responsible for multiple program issues relating to utilities coordination, and non-let program performance monitoring and reporting, and construction program support.
This position must develop and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with utility, local officials, department staff, consultants and contractors. The essential functions of this position require possessing and using engineering skills in preparing and reviewing construction plans and specifications. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely using written and verbal technical language is necessary. Competent use of computer programs is also necessary.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range (14-13) with an annual salary of $80,870 - $99,403, plus excellent benefits . A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This position has a flexible schedule and is required to work out of the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
Travel may be required up to 25% of the time.

For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.
Qualifications
A minimally qualified applicant will have the following:
  • Upon application, candidate must have graduated from an ABET accredited program with a 4-year degree (or Master's or Ph.D.) in civil engineering or a related engineering field OR possess a PE license (registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin) OR possess an EIT (Engineer-in-Training) license OR have documentation from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services that deems the individual a professional engineer and qualified to engage in professional engineering practices.
  • At least 4 years of professional engineering experience in design, construction or maintenance or transportation projects.
