About Us:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of precision components for the aerospace and automotive industries. We are seeking a Quality Manager who has a strong background in quality management within CNC machining environments, preferably within aerospace, automotive or custom gear manufacturing environments.

Job Summary:

The Quality Manager will be responsible for managing and improving the quality assurance processes within our aerospace and automotive component manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with key quality processes, including FMEA, PPAP, and Gage R&R studies, as well as a solid understanding of AS9100 standards. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management: Lead the quality management system, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Process Control: Implement and manage FMEA processes to proactively identify and address potential risks in manufacturing.
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP): Oversee the PPAP process, ensuring that all production parts meet the required standards before entering mass production.
  • Gage R&R Studies: Conduct Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility studies to ensure the reliability of measurement systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives, aiming to enhance product quality, reduce variability, and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the quality assurance team, promoting a culture of quality and accountability across the organization.
  • Customer Interaction: Act as the primary liaison for customers on all quality-related matters, ensuring that their specifications and expectations are met.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with AS9100 standards and other relevant industry regulations, ensuring that all quality processes are thoroughly documented and audited.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field, or a Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within the aerospace and/or automotive manufacturing industries.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in FMEA, PPAP, Gage R&R studies, and other quality assurance methodologies.
  • AS9100 Experience: Familiarity with AS9100 standards and their application in a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading a quality assurance team and implementing quality improvement programs.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal teams, management, and external customers.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, with a focus on identifying and resolving quality issues before they impact production.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and address quality-related challenges in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO 9001 in addition to AS9100 standards.
  • Familiarity with advanced quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC).
