Senior Polymer Chemist Engineer
Direct Hire Full-Time Role
Salary Range: $118,600 - $140,000 per year
Location: Hayward, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
As a Senior Polymer Chemist Engineer, you will lead the development of new elastomeric and adhesive materials, ensuring alignment with industry and customer needs. You will provide expertise to R&D and Manufacturing by collaborating cross-functionally on new product development programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the formulation and commercial development of new polymer and elastomeric materials based on industry trends and customer requirements.
- Prepare and deliver technology presentations at industry conferences and customer meetings.
- Support new materials, formulations, and processes throughout the development cycle.
- Conduct root cause/failure analysis for existing and new products throughout the development cycle.
- Provide chemistry expertise and insights for R&D activities, including fielding inquiries from Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Marketing stakeholders.
- Determine and report project timelines, action item prioritization, and resource allocation needs to management and customers.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of advanced principles and theories, contributing to scientific literature, industry associations, and publications.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities assigned over the course of employment.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- M.S. in polymer chemistry or a related field with 10 years of experience or equivalent
- Proven track record of developing commercial products and technologies
- Demonstrable understanding of elastomer or adhesives and relevant manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in statistical analysis and lab aptitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to be a hands-on solution provider.
- Previous exposure to roll-to-roll coating or extrusion manufacturing methods is highly preferred.
- Comfortable with 10% travel requirements.
- Demonstrable background in QMS, SPC, and other quality/manufacturing controls is a plus.
