Description:
Dramatically improves departmental and corporate efficiency through the effective analysis of business needs and intelligent deployment of software solutions to the engineering department. Appropriately configures commercial software and utilizes customized application development only when required. Provides expert level user support for engineering applications as needed.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
- Provides user support on engineering applications as needed, including providing leadership in establishment and documentation of best practices.
- Continuous learning regarding business needs of the organization to better design solutions to meet those needs. Provides creative thinking on how engineering software features and modules might be utilized to meet department objectives.
- Develops application architecture, writes structured code, documents applications both for developers and users, maintains, and deploys custom applications as required.
- Ability to conceive of, organize, and deploy engineering software applications, and to implement data migration, software upgrades, and system integration projects.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Working knowledge of standard engineering department practices.
Technical/Functional Competencies:
• Comprehensive understanding of all features of the engineering applications in use at the company, including up-front mastery of new features in the latest revisions of the software. Extensive experience with engineering CAD software applications including Pro/E. Ability to coach users on best practices, troubleshoot and develop enhancements.
• Proven ability to be self-taught on new software, to explore the limits of software capabilities, and to design best-fit technical solutions for tough departmental problems.
• Extensive knowledge of database design best practices. Understanding of Enterprise Data Management systems.
• Pro/Toolkit expertise highly desirable. Significant experience with at least one structured programming language, preferably either C/C++ or Java required.
• Maintenance and development of applications using ASP 3.0, VB Script, JavaScript, ASP.Net, C#, VB.Net, ADO.Net, XML, and Web Services required.
• Interaction with databases leveraging knowledge of SQL Server, Relational Database Design, Stored Procedures, Data Transformation Services (DTS), T-SQL, Microsoft Access, VBA for Access required.
• IIS Administration, Database Administration (SQL & Oracle) required.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent customer interface skills.
