Job Summary:

Seeking Capacity & Performance Planning Engineer with strong background in IT Infrastructure Engineering, Capacity and Performance for Compute, Cloud, Storage and Network. The Senior Capacity Planning and Performance Engineer would lead multiple capacity and performance projects from inception through completion, while adhering to scope, schedule, quality and budget for capacity and performance efforts.

This individual must possess strong communication, presentation, and relationship building skills and must be comfortable working with technology and business partners across the organization in a collaborative way.

The individual in this role will be part of the Service Delivery Organization within Technology Information and Operations and will work with cross functional teams to deliver the infrastructure capacity, plan for capacity and performance management, and determine requirements to optimize deployments to private and public cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform server monitoring, analysis, reporting and tool administration for Teamquest.
  • Collect utilization, capacity and performance statistics for all critical computing platforms, including servers, networks and data storage and provide application/server forecasts of resource usage.
  • Hands-on experience in analyzing resource usage charts using TeamQuest, creating templates for different OS’s such as Windows, Linux and AIX and creating alerts.
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate capacity planning challenges.
  • Experience in capacity management and infrastructure engineering for distributed server environments, as well as network and distributed storage environments.
  • Provide right-sizing and optimization for applications migrating to Private Cloud and AWS and in support of Data Center Consolidation.
  • Support DevOps and partner with application developers to find the best way to scale infrastructure, characterize transactional throughput and response time, reduce resource consumption and shorten request latency.
  • Support design, development, and implementation of automated processes for gathering, populating and maintaining capacity and system utilization data.
  • Develop advanced queries and reports for management on KPIs to improve the process effectiveness, efficiency, and data accuracy.
  • Profile application response times and business transactions/volume mix from production.
  • Determine capacity/configuration to meet SLAs for projected business volumes.
  • Provide business service level/availability monitoring for critical applications and create performance dashboards.
  • Monitor web application performance and critical application end user experience.

Performance Testing Skills Needed:

  • JMeter hands-on experience in scripting, enhancements/modifications to existing scripts, creating scenarios and executing tests.
  • Experience in writing custom functions in JMeter and outputting data into a specific location.
  • End-to-end understanding of overall application architecture and experience in creating performance test plans, understanding non-functional requirements, and reporting.
  • Good understanding of batch performance testing and reporting.

APM / Dynatrace Deliverables:

  • Dynatrace hands-on experience to perform connectivity tests and install agents, post maintenance windows.
  • Create synthetic monitors, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Ability to perform problem analysis on issues identified in Dynatrace.
  • Incident Management – Review all INCs assigned to APM & Capacity team and perform RCA, routing to the right teams if it is not related to application capacity or performance.
  • Provide validation support leveraging Dynatrace monitoring during PRD changes.
  • Support troubleshooting issues in lower environments (environment stabilization).
  • Assist in optimizing application performance via tuning recommendations during PTE reviews and PRD support (requires deep understanding of application platforms and performance metrics, JVM, OpenShift, AWS insights).
  • Post Go live production monitoring and report breaches in SLAs.
  • Dynatrace certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PY programming language.

ITOM:

  • ServiceNow hands-on experience and navigate ITOM event management tool for review of incidents, alerts, and events.
  • SolarWinds hands-on experience and navigate in SolarWinds how to configure for monitoring and alerting.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $137K - $170K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
