We are looking for a passionate, talented Senior Software Engineer with a growth mindset who is adept at a variety of skills, especially with design and development of mobile apps or cloud services and machine learning applications. You will be part of a team building the future of Smart Eyewear at Amazon. Amazon is focused on bringing technology and design into a form that is familiar to millions of people in a way that has never been done before.

You will have the opportunity to make an impact across multiple products and be part of the start of a new product space within Amazon. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and deploy cloud services and experiences that leverage AI and machine learning techniques for our Smart Eyewear product. You will play a crucial role in the development and deployment of machine learning infrastructure and will work closely with applied scientists and other engineers to create robust and scalable solutions that meet our product needs. You will need to define models, drive best engineering practices, and produce clean, reusable code. You must be prepared to deal with ambiguity and be ready to learn as you go. You will have the opportunity to influence product decisions and direction that will impact millions of customers.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Design and develop large scale cloud services.
  2. Collaborate with applied scientists and researchers to deploy AI and ML infrastructure.
  3. Develop and maintain scalable and efficient codebases.
  4. Conduct experiments, analyze results, and refine models to achieve optimal performance.
  5. Integrate ML models into production systems and ensure their reliability and efficiency.
  6. Deploy applications on devices and cloud platforms, and manage their lifecycle.
  7. Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies.
  8. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team meetings.
  9. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Expertise in at least one programming language such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, Python, or C++
- Skilled in natural language processing or natural language understanding.
- Experience in design and development of cloud services using AWS.
- Experience in optimizing ML models, and deploying ML models & infrastructure on cloud.
- Knowledge of computer vision based applications.
