Java Developer

Systems Integration and Development Inc, (SID), is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in Rockville, MD and is seeking a Java Developer. This is a full-time onsite position based in the Silver Spring, MD area. This is a hybrid role.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Develop new and/or modify production web applications
2. Develop application data models and work with existing complex data models and object-relational database mappings
3. Develop application prototypes; develop and maintain application scripts; troubleshoot and resolve technical problems; and adhere to application IT security requirements/tasks
4. Develop & update all documentation for new projects and/or existing projects in an operations & maintenance phase
5. Work collaboratively with teammates on a variety of projects
6. Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

Skills & Experience:

1. Demonstrated proficiency, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, in developing scalable and maintainable J2EE applications
2. Good understanding of Object-Oriented Principles
3. Strong understanding of Java, JavaScript, and Python
4. Experienced implementing web applications using Spring or Struts
5. Strong experience in utilizing relational databases along with Structured Query Language (SQL) to create and/or maintain queries, routines, and stored procedures
6. Previous GIS experience is a plus
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills
