Job Description

Are you a technician looking for a challenging career involving hands-on assembly and operation of world class testing platforms that directly support the U.S. Nuclear Navy? Come join the Component Testing team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory!

The successful candidate will perform the following:
Construct, install, maintain, repair, calibrate and troubleshoot electronic test equipment, circuitry, and process control/data acquisition hardware in an industrial facility, conforming to the National Electric Code and/or similar governing standards.
Construct, install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical test equipment in a test facility.
Work closely with peers, engineers, contractors, maintenance personnel, and management to operate and maintain lab equipment, facility, and local infrastructure.
Monitor data acquisition during routine facility operation, interpret instrument readings, and determine instrument validity both from calibration and operating conditions.
Verify and assure that facility operations is in accordance with documented test plans, test procedures, and facility operating procedures.
Qualify as an operator on all test hardware within the employee’s work location, including supporting shift-work as needed.
Assemble and install complex test equipment and/or special equipment to achieve the desired operating conditions.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; orAssociate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; orJourneyman's papers in a related field.
Preferred Skills

Dual electrical and mechanical certification preferred.

Pay Range

$55,800.00 - $85,400.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
