Job Summary:
The R&D Associate Packaging Engineer ensures the development of packaging required by Materne North America’s Packaging team. The Associate Packaging Engineer will support the packaging R&D team in the launch of new project/product, industrial application and propose optimization of the existing process/packaging. They are eager to learn and apply packaging engineering principles to facilitate integration of effective packaging solutions and effective project management.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Support cross-functional relationships
- Support Marketing initiatives
- Carry out industrial trials with assistance
- Regularly update reports with R&D Packaging Manager
- Supply samples for internal and external needs.
- Support supplier compliance, packaging re-engineering and standard pack optimization initiatives with support
- Support the research, development and implementation of packaging process
- Look for new packaging and processes
- Develop the packaging to meet the needs of the project and suppliers with support
- Calculate the cost and ROI
- Lead packaging qualifications and supplier audits with support
- Identify non-compliant supplier packaging
- Support other team members through sampling, lab testing, and data collection
- Maintain production awareness and compatibility
- Assist in the creation of optimized pallet patterns.
- Utilize knowledge to aid Production team
- Assist in the resolution of quality issues and customer’s complaints
- Utilize data analytics tools to identify trends
- Lead Industrialization trials with support
- Organize and validate logistic trials.
- Draft trial protocol and report.
- Conduct tests related to the operation of plant equipment and processes.
- All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science / Engineering or related field required
EXPERIENCE
- 0-3 years’ professional post-graduate experience required.
- Experience in a plant or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience as an intern in the food industry working on packaging or in the packaging industry preferred

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work in normal office conditions and in the manufacturing plant.
- Must be able to wear PPE
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time at certain periods
- Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day and be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
