The Sr. Automation Engineer develops, designs, builds, and tests robotic platforms from prototype through product commercialization. Creates an integrated autonomous interface, mobility, communication, and human-robot interaction. Works with cross-functional teams to understand opportunities for robotic applications.
Major Position Responsibilities
- Uses engineering techniques to design, develop, test, and manage automated machinery processes.
- Designs, programs, simulates, optimizes, and tests automated machinery to streamline manufacturing processes.
- Uses design techniques to build automated systems such as measurement functions, control functions, and actuators.
- Configures systems using Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) techniques.
- Considers automation workflow, production layout, and safety measures when designing automated machinery processes.
- Audits current equipment and automated processes to determine failure rates.
- Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues.
- Develops solutions to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
- Drafts and designs detailed technical documentation for design specifications and additional relevant documents.
- Adheres to international and local regulatory standards for design, process, and safety considerations.
Basic Qualifications
Required Education: Associates Degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Discipline/Major: General Engineering or specialized Engineering degree required
Years of Experience: 5-7 years of experience in automation engineering or a related field
Skills, Certifications, Abilities and Attributes Required
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, robotics, CAD software, and simulation tools.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
