About The Role

IMAX is looking for a Designer to be a key part of IMAX Creative, IMAX’s award-winning in-house agency that provides creative support to the global IMAX Marketing teams. We’re looking for an experienced visual communicator who’s driven by a passion for design. You have a deep knowledge of movies, fandom, culture, and in particular, IMAX.

In the role of the Designer, you will be responsible for creating compelling designs bringing the IMAX Brand to life across a wide variety of projects for Brand and Film. You may work from an established brand design system one day and develop a new system the next. You’ll participate in design sprints to create original designs from brief to implementation that push the creative envelope and create templates to ensure that every iteration that goes out into the world is pixel perfect. This role is split 50/50 between versioning based on established designs and original concepting.

Our ideal candidate has extensive experience in visual brand identity, entertainment, and marketing design. This is a role for a creatively ambitious and motivated designer who enjoys both creative and technical challenges. Our ideal candidate is medium-agnostic, designs for digital and print, and is willing to engage in any design challenge.

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in design sprints and brainstorm across Film, Brand, and other business verticals as assigned
  • Build upon and create versions of existing design system and brand assets
  • Create brand new designs per Creative briefs
  • Create design templates and design guidelines that support the brand's visual identity, including presentation decks, email templates, and other design assets
  • Develop brand mock-ups and concepts based off creative briefs
  • Design brand marketing materials across mediums including digital, print ads, outdoor advertising, environmental, and events
  • Create and present design concepts and prototypes to clients and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and insights as needed
  • Deliver final design files based on creative direction and technical specifications to the printer and/or key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director, Art Director, and Senior Designer to concept, develop, and expand on brand visual identity
  • Work with Producers and Creative Project Managers to manage deadlines

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of branding, visual identity, or related design fields
  • Advanced knowledge of design theory including typography, layout, grid systems, and color
  • Strong portfolio showcasing branding projects and design thinking
  • Advanced level in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Presentation design experience within PowerPoint and Keynote including information and infographic design
  • Strong technical understanding when it comes to the delivery of files

Nice To Have

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to clients and stakeholders
  • Able to understand creative briefs, ask relevant questions and develop strategic designs that answer the brief
  • Design studio experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Figma, Webflow a plus

Compensation
