As the Head of Engineering-Application Development, you will lead GradGuard's talented team of engineers. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of innovative software solutions. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in leading engineering teams, as well as knowledge and experience with PHP, SQL, JavaScript, and AWS.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers giving them guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical strategies and roadmaps.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software applications.
- Ensure the team adheres to best practices and coding standards.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality.
- Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Identify and address technical challenges and bottlenecks in a proactive manner.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership role, managing and leading engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge and experience in PHP, SQL, JavaScript, and AWS.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in software development life cycle management.
- Familiarity with Data Intelligence practices and tools is a plus.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Typical work environment for a professional office space with hybrid and remote peers.
- Largely a stationary role with some moving from place to place.
- Constant use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor and other office equipment.
- Some evening and weekend work, depending upon workload.
- Some overnight travel may be required for work, events, and trainings.
