The Engineering Graduate Program (EGP) at Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) is a global 12-month program where you are offered the perfect mix of on-the-job learning and diverse training modules. You will get the chance to use your technical and creative engineering skills while gaining valuable experience working with real products on real business topics.

The Volvo Group North America Engineering Graduate Program (EGP) does not offer current or future sponsorship. Individuals with temporary visas or who require sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future are not eligible for the program.

Who are you?

• Experience with or knowledge of machine learning and advanced analytic methodologies such as regression analysis, neural networks (deep learning, RNN, LSTM, DQN etc.), time series forecasting techniques, classification, clustering, feature reduction etc. with a passion to learn.
• A passion for turning data into knowledge with great visualizations using Power BI, QlikView, Tableau.
• Familiarity with Database Management Systems (BDMS) and proficiency in querying and manipulating data using SQL.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and programming languages such as Python (including libraries like Numpy, SciPy, Pandas, Tensorflow), SQL, Git, Azure, Hadoop, Matlab/Simulink, pySpark.
• Understanding of machine learning techniques for data analysis, and the ability to apply statistical methods to extract insights and make data-driven decisions.
• Ability to leverage analytical and quantitative skills to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, compare against physics-based models and complete root cause analysis.
• Technical engineering background and experience in automotive or heavy vehicle applications (mechanical and/or electrical).

Minimum Education Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics.
  • You have either just graduated or graduated within the past two years.

Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition equipment (strain gauges, thermocouples, accelerometers, etc.). Industry or school lab experience ok.

Experience or interest in hands on automotive activities which enable the identification of primary parts and functions of vehicles (Car hobbies, School clubs, racing, etc.).

• A bright and analytical tech person with a strong ability to solve complex problems and make decisions based on limited information.
• A fast learner who can quickly get up to speed regardless of the task type.
• A goal-oriented ‘doer’ who cares about the results and always wants to excel.
• Someone who is structured and organized, with a diligent mindset.
• Communication, feedback, conflict management.
• Desire to work within team and with outside stakeholders to gather required information, effectively plan activities, and execute and communicate results.
• Good time management skills allowing person to balance work in different phases of execution.

Job activities

• Drive projects to utilize advanced analytics and machine learning on vehicle and test data to provide actionable intelligence for product improvements.
• Make meaningful interpretations, recommendations, and predictions from data collected throughout the product life cycle to support our endeavor in moving towards data-driven development.
• Leverage AI and machine learning techniques to improve simulation and testing by utilizing advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and natural language processing tools such as ChatGPT.
• Translate findings from data analytics into engineering presentations that effectively communicate solutions.
• Automate data pipelines that will lead to successful development and deployment of Digital Twins and facilitate advanced analytics and machine learning by providing structured, high-quality data analytics.
• Work cross-functionally with the Complete Vehicle and Vehicle Technology teams to improve correlation between simulation and physical verification of complete vehicle systems.
• Plan, develop, and coordinate test plans, provide instrumentation roadmaps, and interpret test data with engineering, verification, and project teams to champion product and process improvements.
• Champion quality and effectiveness of best practices, tools, and methods.
• Coordinate with the global analytics community on developing and improving analysis and simulation strategies.
• Collect, clean, model and analyze data using programming languages and data analysis software.
