We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Reservoir Engineer within our LCV Sequestration group based in Houston, TX.

This role is focused on driving development planning for saline aquifer CO2 sequestration projects, requiring technical expertise applied to strategic planning, surveillance, competitor analysis, and tactical execution, while collaborating across multiple disciplines (reservoir, geology, petrophysics, drilling, completions, operations and facilities).

Responsibilities:

  1. Reservoir Simulation for CO2 Injection and Monitoring
  2. Understand reservoir simulation concepts, types, models, and data inputs
  3. Assess reservoir properties in close collaboration with G&G and petrophysical staff, including reservoir thickness, porosity, permeability, initial water saturations, and other important model properties
  4. Assess heterogeneities for proper representation in the simulation model
  5. Analyze reservoir fluid flow; determine size of CO2 plume migration and extent of pressure front
  6. Be skilled with SCAL data such as wettability, relative permeability, capillary pressures, pressure-dependent rock properties
  7. Perform compositional modelling
  8. Construct, history match, run predictive cases, optimize investment alternatives, and assist with preparation of field development plans
  9. Conduct uncertainty analyses to quantify the expected range of possible outcomes
  10. Contribute to important technical writeups up to regulatory agency standards
  11. Support forthcoming reserves evaluations using probabilistic and deterministic methods
  12. Effectively communicate with management, SMEs/Chiefs, subsurface team, operations/planning team, commercial team, and other key support organizations including Land, Legal and Regulatory Teams

Qualifications:

  1. Strong analytical skills
  2. Skilled in all reservoir engineering concepts
  3. Proficiency with simulators such as CMG, Eclipse, TNavigator
  4. Knowledge using workflows in Petrel to generate multiple inputs for simulation
  5. Effective communication and presentation skills and ability to collaborate, communicate, and influence peers and partners
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information
  7. Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet tight deadlines
  8. Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills with experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  9. Clear understanding of business drivers and their implication in development projects
  10. Top skills in technical writing

Education:

  1. BS or higher degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
  2. 10+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry. Multi-functional experience a plus

Professional/Technical Knowledge:

  1. Minimum of (10) years of reservoir engineering experience on a multidisciplinary asset or technology team, (5) years of which includes reservoir simulation.
