IT Developer
As part of the IT Team, this position is predominantly to focus on the Java Development which supports our custom-built warehousing and indirect systems. You will also be responsible for the provision of essential operational support to the business, while leading proactive system development activities in support of improving performance, satisfying customers and providing new products/services to customers internally and externally.
Location: Hillthorn Business Park, Washington, Tyne and Wear, NE37 3HG
Working Hours: 39 hours per week:
07.55 – 16.35 Monday to Thursday
07.55 – 13.35 Friday
JOB PURPOSE
- Support the business with the development and troubleshooting of existing platforms, in order to provide outstanding reliability, functionality and operational performance to internal and external customers.
- Provision of essential operational support to the business, ensuring reliability targets are achieved and maintained across all operating systems.
- Proactively review and identify opportunities for improvement across all existing systems and operational practices.
- Work with customers (internally & externally) to effectively manage expectations, ensuring their needs are being satisfied.
- Develop effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders at levels in the business.
- Perform other related duties as required in keeping with the department and business.
- Ensure frequent and effective communication channels are in place and maintained.
- Actively ensure the IT service delivered is of a high standard.
- Provide relevant information to internal customers in a timely manner.
- Support management in achieving strategic objectives.
- Respond to operational reliability and system performance priorities in line with service level agreements.
Knowledge and Experience
- Developing applications for industry using Java, Java Script, PHP and SQL.
- Proficient in the use of SQL databases.
- Extensive programming experience developed in a dynamic environment.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced automotive / manufacturing sector.
- Proven track record success managing multiple customers/stakeholders.

Education / Qualification
- Computer Science / Maths / Statistics or other related degree qualification.
