Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this individual will be responsible for leading the development of next generation protein sequencing systems and will oversee a team of engineers.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:
- Lead core teams for next generation protein sequencer development.
- Own the architecture of the system from concept to release.
- Directly manage a team of engineering resources.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, software, and systems integration engineers to deliver an instrument that meets customer expectations.
- Participate in the design, execution, and analysis of feasibility testing.
- Own the system requirements and specifications documents and interface control document.
- Lead technical risk management activities, including the dFMEA.
- Work with external development and manufacturing partners to ensure that the system architecture is feasible and manufacturable.
- Provide innovative solutions to design challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Systems preferred).
- 15+ years engineering experience, with at least 5+ years of project leadership experience and direct management experience.
- Experience with complex mechano-optical systems.
- Experience with medical devices.
- Experience working in the context of a defined Product Development Process, including contributing to the Design History File.
- Experience with SolidWorks.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills are required, and the ability to interact well in group meetings/working environments and the ability to present to executive audience.
- Self-starter with a relentless work ethic who can work independently, but who also functions well in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated team skills: ability to maintain excellent rapport with colleagues in the face of tight development schedules.
- Expected travel up to 20%.
Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it's ok if you don't!):
- Design for Six Sigma certification or experience.
The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $200,000 - $240,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual's skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
