Your Role

Gensler Los Angeles is seeking a Brand Designer, with a passion for helping our clients enhance their built spaces through complex signage and wayfinding systems. This position will focus on the ability to understand an environment’s design, and to develop and program a complex signage and wayfinding system to fit that space. This system will help a visitor, student, passenger—any number of users—navigate that space through a combination of environmental graphics, signage, wayfinding, and physical installations.


What You Will Do

  1. Work with a multi-disciplinary team of architects and designers to create a strategy, design signage and wayfinding solutions that connect people to place for diverse client projects.
  2. Generate multiple initial concepts and develop viable, documented design solutions that help solve complex wayfinding conditions.
  3. Integrate messaging, color, imagery, type and composition into three-dimensional built environments.
  4. Produce design intent documentation suitable for public bid processes.
  5. Review and elevate quality of our design and documentation with design sensibility, code and technical knowledge.
  6. Manage construction administration with fabricators, RFIs and installation quality.
  7. Mentor and train junior designers.
  8. Collaborate with clients, design teams and other graphic designers across multiple industries.
  9. Facilitate great design results by cultivating and maintaining positive client and team relationships.
  10. Perform as point of contact on projects for clients, vendors, and teams.
  11. Manage multidisciplinary project team workload for multiple projects.
  12. Create and manage project scopes, budgets and workplans.
  13. Manage project financial performance.
  14. Assist in the development of proposals and collaborate in the strategic development of new business.
  15. Interact with internal team members, project managers from other areas, representatives from accounting and external vendors.
  16. Manage coordination between internal departments or studios.
  17. Work with project manager to inform project staffing/hours.

Your Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, industrial design, environmental design, architecture, visual communication or related field.
  2. 10+ years of professional experience in brand development, signage and wayfinding, environmental graphic design or similar studio experience.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to read architectural construction documents and shop drawings.
  5. Totally client- and team-oriented, knows how to balance demands for time and resources.
  6. Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills.
  7. Experience in marketing, writing and delivering proposals for project work.
  8. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  9. Knowledge of project management tools and methods.
  10. Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  11. Comfortable in internal and external client facing situations.
  12. Familiarity with CAD and Revit preferred.

The base salary range will be estimated between $95,000 - $115,500 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
