JOB OVERVIEW:

Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements all aspect of electrical controls systems software and hardware relevant to equipment used for the processing of implantable medical devices.

In this role you will have a broad scope of responsibility from creating electrical and pneumatic, to developing software and executing software test plans, writing test reports and system level troubleshooting.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meets all the requirements of an Electrical Controls Engineer III
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical controls engineering.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in electrical systems and control software.
  • Supports cross-functional teams in the design, development, and validation of new products.
  • Identifies opportunities for innovation and process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical, mechanical, and software components.
  • Interface directly with customers to identify customer expectations and specifications.
  • Interface with suppliers to select and develop the best available technical solutions.
  • Participates in the development of strategic plans and roadmaps for the electrical engineering function.
  • Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Reviews existing products suggests improvements and implements changes to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Demonstrates a deeper understanding of electrical, software, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of basic Omron, AB, Beckhoff, and C# software development from scratch.
  • Mentors and develops junior electrical engineers, providing guidance on complex technical challenges.
  • Mentors junior engineers in the proper usage GMPs and quality procedures.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical controls engineers.
  • May be responsible for leading medium to large sized projects or initiatives.
  • Must be able to travel if there is a need but no more than 10%.
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENC E

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in electrical engineering or equivalent (NOT required)
  • Five years related experience

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, schematics, interconnects assembly and part drawings or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

With or without reasonable accommodation minimal time will be spent walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Some time will be spent standing, sitting, talking, and hearing, and using hands to handle, feel and reach. At times up to 50 pounds will need to be lifted.

To effectively complete the tasks in this position the following vision requirements are needed:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Minimal time will be spent in wet or humid conditions, and near caustic or toxic chemicals. Some time will be spent working near moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate (examples: business offices with computers and printers).
