The Talent Development Journey team’s mission is to make it easier for Amazonians to build rewarding careers in Amazon’s peculiar culture. To deliver on this mission, the Talent Development tech team is building a talent development ecosystem (TDE) which empowers human judgement, action, and interaction to make it easier to learn and grow in Amazon’s peculiar culture. TDE enables authoring high quality content, delivering personalized learning experiences, and measuring proficiency at scale.
We are looking for a highly motivated, top-notch Software Development Manager to lead the team. You will have the opportunity to build, scale, and shape the direction of this business. This role requires deep technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and strong business judgment. You will be responsible for services that can be deployed globally, delivering an exceptional customer experience, providing thought leadership in a fast-paced development environment, and partnering with product management and senior leaders to ensure the success of this program.
In this role, you will create a strategic and tactical roadmap for the team. You will build mechanisms and balance long-term commitments with small fixes to deliver customer value. You will be accountable for your team’s operational excellence and security posture. You will manage your team’s day-to-day development activities using an agile development process. You will hire new engineers, mentor engineers, and provide career guidance and growth.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
