The Disney Branded Television (DBT) group oversees the creation, development, and production of live-action and animation television content for children, teenagers, and families under the Disney brand through the Disney Television Animation studio. This content is aired on the group's various cable channels, such as Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, and the Disney + Streaming platform.

Because of DBT's strong use of commercial and custom software technologies to create its products, its use of technology, engineering, development techniques, and software is essential to its production operations and workflows. We’re looking for an intellectually curious, business-savvy, analytical powerhouse to join the Disney Branded Television Technology team as a Senior Real Time Pipeline Engineer. In this role, you will develop and support solutions across DBT: Productions and Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Automate Production Application processes to mainly support the production Unreal Engine / Perforce pipeline used by DBT.
  • Work closely with product developers to ensure new features have the proper operational support and maintainability.
  • Implement complex solutions to provide hosting services and platforms to various development teams.
  • Create, build, and deliver new technologies or platforms, including consultation, designing, building, and supporting development pipelines.
  • Responsible for the architecture, deployment, and support of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deliver cloud native and in-house infrastructure solutions for a wide range of applications.
  • Migrate applications from manual code push to automated / continuous deployments.
  • Manage, configure, and implement automation tools such as Terraform, Helm, Gitlab, Kubernetes.
  • Develop software for automating, monitoring, and maintaining deployed infrastructure and services.
  • Participate in researching, testing, and implementing optimized technical solutions for our production technology infrastructure.
  • Provide 3rd tier support to the Systems Engineering, Support Engineering, and Software Development groups.
  • Perform technical administration functions and other miscellaneous technical special projects as assigned.
  • Influence the direction of product and service development.
  • Interact with vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with building pipelines for distributing Unreal Game Engine across an organization.
  • Experience with Perforce at an administrative level.
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting Linux / UNIX, Mac OS, and Microsoft Windows-based systems.
  • Experience with scripting and programming languages for Web App Development (Python, PHP, PowerShell, React, Rust, bash, etc.).
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies.
  • Cloud management services (with AWS, Azure, or Google GCP).
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Docker) automation.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Terraform, and/or an equivalent product.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins) and containerization/orchestration tools (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Load Balancers (NginX, F5).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Identity Management services.
  • Able to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to strategically solve complex technical issues.
  • Must have a strong customer service orientation.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with creative applications such as Unreal Engine, Perforce, ToonBoom, AutoDesk Maya, Nuke.
  • Knowledge of pipeline automation and render farm management.
  • Experience with MySQL and SQL databases.
  • Previous work experience in a similar discipline.
  • Experience supporting high-end servers and graphics workstation hardware.

The hiring range for this position in CA is $136,000.00 to $182,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
