Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Certification as a Clinical Engineer (CCE).
  • A minimum of three years of hospital or healthcare experience maintaining medical equipment.
  • A minimum of 3 years holding a supervisory position managing a hospital biomedical equipment program.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of concepts related to computer-based medical systems, networking protocols, and information security as it applies to medical technology within VHA.
  • Conduct a medical equipment management program compliant with applicable healthcare standards and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop a curriculum for a continuing education program addressing the safe and effective use of medical technology.
  • Manage a recall and safety alert program for medical devices, including medical device hazard investigations, to assure compliance with patient safety goals, SMDA, and TJC requirements.
  • Conduct capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment spanning initial concept, installation, and effective implementation of complex medical equipment.
  • Function as the subject matter expert in the field of biomedical engineering, supporting specialized clinical technology, including service, system administration, training, quality assurance, and life-cycle management.
  • Advise clinical and administrative staff on medical technology, including existing and emerging technology, which addresses viability, long-term suitability, compatibility, and/or safety.
  • Apply project management principles to the deployment of medical equipment and health information technologies.
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including technical and professional staff at various levels of the organization.
  • Understand regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements, and International Standard Organization standards.

Salary:
  • $45.67 - $55.29 per hour
  • $95,000.00 - $115,000.00

Up to 20 percent travel may be required for this position.
Contract Length: 1-year long-term government contract with options for 2 additional years.
