Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Digital Development Enablement, the Director of Digital API Platforms will play a critical role in driving innovation and growth for the Banking Solutions business. In a leadership role in the Digital Technology organization, you will be responsible for transforming our API platforms and driving the movement of the next generation of digital API platforms. With a focus on digital APIs and serverless cloud technologies, you will collaborate closely with product leaders and other stakeholders to align product milestones and deliver innovative digital applications and experiences. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the company's digital transformation journey, drive customer-centric innovation, and position the organization as a leader in the competitive digital banking landscape. Specifically, the Director of Digital API Platforms will be responsible for the following:

  1. Partnering closely with the broader Digital Engineering organization and Banking product organization to deliver roadmaps and plans to introduce Node and Serverless API capabilities into their platforms.
  2. Delivering high-quality and high-performance API solutions to our clients and customers for all product areas in the Digital Solutions business.
  3. Keeping up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the API and cloud technology space and bring innovative ideas and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  4. Owning the design, execution, rollout, and evangelism of the API platforms.
  5. Planning and coordinating reviews and approval of technical deliverables.
  6. Continuously improving patterns, practices, and operational efficiency within the team.
  7. Conducting assessments, building blueprints and roadmaps, building proofs of concept, and writing technical points of view.

Charter

  1. Leading a team of API engineering experts as we look to stand up a new Serverless Node based API platform on AWS.
  2. Analyzing current API technologies utilized within the company and developing steps and processes to improve and migrate them towards the target stated of Node/Serverless.
  3. Establishing milestones for necessary contributions from departments and developing processes to facilitate their collaboration.
  4. Assisting other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other team members.
  5. Providing detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, workforce and time necessary.
  6. Providing clear goals for all areas of a project and developing steps to oversee their timely execution.
  7. Working closely with engineering professionals within the company to maintain hardware and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently.
  8. Mentoring and training other engineers throughout the company and seeking to continually improve processes companywide.

Professional Qualifications

  1. Extensive public cloud API experience within AWS.
  2. Previous experience in large scale API platform buildouts in the public cloud.
  3. Experience with serverless Technologies and use cases, Fargate, Lambda, Functions, etc.
  4. Experience with SaaS, PaaS and IaaS environments.
  5. Ability to analyze how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  6. Extensive experience with migration of legacy API technologies like Spring/WCF, to cloud native technologies like Node/Lambda and execution of those plans.
  7. Experience developing engineering applications for a large corporation.
  8. Demonstrated project development and leadership skills.
  9. Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
  10. Preferred degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar relevant field.
  11. Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering principles and processes (e.g., Lean, Agile, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement.
  12. Excellent communicator, highly innovative with a low ego, capable of motivating and energizing direct reports and peers, with a proven ability to create a highly collaborative working environment.

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $138,600.00 - $232,850.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
