Who We Are:

Zendar is creating a high-resolution radar imaging system that has resolution similar to lidar, allowing cars to see in inclement weather. We want to change the role of radar in the autonomous driving sensor stack and demonstrate that radars can take on many of the functions of lidar at a much lower cost and in all weather conditions. Zendar's technology fuses data streams from multiple sensors to build a more accurate scene and utilizes machine learning to predict likely environmental scenarios and provide situational awareness.

Who You Are:

In this role, you will own the sensor and compute suite on our data collection vehicle as well as device drivers. You will also contribute to the software tools used for data collection and real-time parsing of data to the processing pipelines. You will work with the algorithms, machine learning and product teams to continuously improve these systems, and ensure that these teams’ requirements are met.

You will lead and drive debugging of the HW/SW issues from root causing to closure, pulling in and working with key cross-functional partners as needed. You will improve the robustness of our platform and expand our test suite.

What We Look For:

4+ years experience developing software that interfaces with hardware, including implementing, testing, extending, and debugging device drivers in either bare metal, RTOS, or Linux/POSIX environments. Strong software development skills with modern C++ (we use C++14). Excellent skills at debugging issues that span hardware/software. Working knowledge of EE fundamentals such as communication protocols and power distribution. Familiarity with Ethernet protocol stack and PTP. Familiarity with professional software development tools, such as source control (git) and unit testing. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Bonus Points:

Experience working with third party hardware suppliers. Experience in automotive product development environments, especially related to ADAS / AV applications. Experience with radar, lidar, cameras, GPS/IMU, or other automotive sensors. Experience mentoring team members on software development and best practices.

What We Have To Offer:

Opportunity to make an impact at a young, venture-backed company in an emerging market. Competitive salary ranging from $130-180k annually depending on experience, benefits and equity. Performance based Bonus. Benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited PTO, 401k. Hybrid work model: in office 3 days per week, the rest work from wherever! Daily catered lunch and a stocked fridge (when working in the Berkeley, CA office).

Zendar is committed to creating a diverse environment where talented people come to do their best work. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
