As the AWS / DevOps Lead you will be responsible for leading our client’s DevOps group who create, operate, maintain and evolve their infrastructure that supports their internal customers and products.

While leading the DevOps team you will be contributing hands-on and helping to grow the team. You enjoy developing scalable, secure and enterprise-grade deployments and working with a team of dedicated engineers and product managers to support common goals.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and contribute in the DevOps team to maintain and build out infrastructure and servers currently operating on AWS.
2. Evolve infrastructure, server, deployment strategies and testing to support the goal of 100% up-time and quick turnaround of deployments for the engineering organization.
3. Continuously improve our infrastructure to be easy to deploy, scalable, secure and fault-tolerant.
4. Work closely with the client’s Architects, Engineers, Product Managers and other clients and partners of the DevOps team to meet the needs of the organization to stay competitive.
5. Take on the same responsibilities of a DevOps engineer such as being on-call, writing deployment scripts, debugging applications, evaluating new technologies and more.
6. Help build a pipeline of qualified DevOps candidates for future openings and lead the DevOps engineers.
7. Drive the process in which the DevOps team operates and iterates/releases.

Requirements and Qualifications:

1. You are smart with an intellectual curiosity that motivates you to keep on top of technical trends - but you also have deep knowledge in the tools of choice.
2. You have supported Linux/Unix deployments for a company with a high traffic site in the cloud.
3. You have designed, monitored and managed scalable and fault-tolerant deployments and supported them in real-world scenarios.
4. You have led an Ops/DevOps team before (5 reports or more) for 2+ years - preferably at a startup.
5. You have experience with continuous integration, log collection and analysis, builds and performance monitoring/tuning of your infrastructure.
6. You are service-oriented, and enjoy working with engineers to make the software development process as painless as possible.
7. You are comfortable writing scripts in python/ruby/bash/groovy (at least two of those).
8. You are extremely reliable and the client can count on you in times of need and are used to 24X7 coverage plans.
9. You have demonstrable experience with the stack of - Cloud/AWS, Tomcat, Cassandra, Apache, Cloud Foundry, Bosh etc.

Nice To Have:

1. Previous experience working with distributed teams - directly interacting with the development teams.
2. Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
3. Experience with network and server security.
