***The Compensation range for this position is approximately $145,000 - $170,000 based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and education. This position is also eligible for the Short Term Incentive (STI) program***

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Lennox is seeking an experienced Head of Product Design to build and lead in-house product design capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to establish a strategic, user-centric design practice that will drive customer satisfaction and shape the future of our consumer and commercial HVAC controllers and connected software solutions.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Establishing an in-house product design and user research practice, including hiring, managing, and mentoring a new in-house team.
  • Overseeing the design of Lennox's consumer-facing HVAC controllers and mobile applications, collaborating closely with engineering and product management.
  • Defining the overall user experience vision, design roadmap, and quality standards for Lennox's connected home products.
  • Managing & evaluating the design work currently handled by external vendors and transitioning duties to an internal design & research practice to more tightly control quality, drive down costs, and increase internal design ownership.
  • Driving an evidence-driven, iterative design process to deliver innovative, best-in-class experiences for homeowners, installers, and channel partners.
  • Owning the creation of research-based user personas to inform product decisions and ensure we’re building the right thing and building the thing right.
  • Building and maintaining a robust design system to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across Lennox's product portfolio.
  • Fostering strong cross-functional partnerships with marketing, engineering, product, and other key stakeholders.
  • Working with other Lennox design resources focused on marketing and web design.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • 15+ years of experience in product design, with a track record of building and managing design teams and driving strategic business initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in design thinking, user research, interaction design, and visual design.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including marketing, engineering, and product management.
  • Experience recruiting and managing high-performing, distributed design teams including in-house and contract resources.
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes and the ability to integrate design into an iterative delivery model.
  • Experience working with waterfall hardware and mechanical design and development practices and have experience meshing agile design practices with waterfall practices.
  • Strong understanding of the interplay between hardware and software design, particularly in the connected home/IoT space.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills to help product teams align on the target audience, customer journey, success metrics, constraints, and scope of work.
  • Ability to travel and collaborate in person with cross-functional partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to evangelize an experience vision and the purpose & value of the design function to technical and business stakeholders.
