Our department leads the evolution of transportation automation by designing and integrating cutting-edge software solutions that enhance transportation safety and efficiency. We focus on modernizing systems to ensure operational safety, efficiency, and seamless deployment of advanced capabilities. Through collaboration with stakeholders and technical experts, we are transforming the future of transportation with scalable, innovative technologies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance software systems with quality and rigor
  • Continuously improve our codebases and our development/deployment processes
  • Collaborate with peers during planning, technical discussions, and code reviews
  • Write clean and testable code that works consistently across platforms, including cloud solutions
  • Partner with domain experts to apply our software products to our diverse mission areas
  • Work effectively in small team environments, while also engaging with external teams and audiences
  • Mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Data Science, or other physical science/engineering fields is a must); or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • US citizen capable of obtaining & maintaining a US government clearance
  • Proficiency with high level programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Rust.
  • Experience with web backend technologies such as Spring and Spring Boot
  • Demonstrable experience working on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), as well as CI/CD, Agile, and DevOps tools and methodologies
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and ideas, embracing continuous, on-the-job learning
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and solve complex problems with limited information, requiring collaboration and creative problem-solving
  • Effective collaboration with teammates and stakeholders
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

Possessing one or more of the following qualifications is highly desirable and will enhance your ability to contribute across a range of projects:

  • Experience with front-end web technologies and frameworks (Typescript, JSON, React, Vue)
  • Experience with data science, analysis, modeling, and visualization using Python, R, and/or Clojure
  • Experience with containerization technologies and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Experience in developing, integrating, or testing air traffic management systems (ERAM, TFMS, TBFM, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning application and delivery
  • Proven leadership in managing technical teams and projects.
  • Experience designing distributed application systems
  • Experience and/or interest in working on air traffic management and transportation systems
