High Voltage Project Engineer, Substations - Utility & Renewables
LOCATION: Austin, TX area- Relocation Assistance available
HYBRID - Office and Work From Home Schedule
A developer and operator of high voltage transmission renewable energy systems is looking to grow its EPC Team with the addition of a High Voltage Project Engineer focused on T&D Substation engineering, operations, construction, and project development.
This is a business critical role that works directly with the company's Corporate Operations, EPC, Construction, and 3rd Party Contractors in order to drive physical and electrical substation projects from initiation to completion. The position requires experience leading project engineering initiatives for multiple greenfield and brownfield substation projects in aspects of conceptual design development, EPC, and overall technical project management. Travel for this role will be once every 1-2 months.
The organization has a flat structure which gives their employees direct access to executive management and the ability to gain a diverse amount of experience on various projects.The scope of their operations includes transmission (t-line), substation, regional control centers, and distribution systems with interconnects to both utility-scale solar and wind assets.

Responsibilities:
- HV Project Engineer / Physical Substation Engineer: Reviews conceptual designs and drawings to verify accurate specifications for substation design
- HV Project Engineer / Physical Substation Engineer: Prepares engineering cost estimates and bid packages for greenfield and brownfield substation projects
- HV Project Engineer / Physical Substation Engineer: Plays essential role in areas of early stage development, EPC hand off, and technical support post construction
- HV Project Engineer / Physical Substation Engineer: Provides supervision to 3rd party engineering teams through project scoping studies
- HV Project Engineer / Physical Substation Engineer: Support greenfield, brownfield expansion, and transmission projects in technical support and commissioning efforts
- 5+ years of substation design project engineering exposures
- Previous experience creating EPC bid packages for substation projects
- Experience with physical substation design is REQUIRED
- Previous experience developing cost estimates for project capitalization
- Experience with high voltage EPC projects dealing with transmission line (T-line) as well as substation engineering design; preferably 138kV or 345kV
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Professional engineer license a big plus
