Role Summary
As a qualified candidate you will lead key areas of the system design and system architecture efforts of the future Software-Defined-Vehicle (SDV). In close collaboration with the other Engineers and their respective teams, you will be the key driver in envisioning, architecting, designing, and executing the next SDV system - from software, over EE architecture to implications onto vehicle platform concept. This includes applying an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
Role Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for capturing and managing both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring that they are clear, complete, and verifiable by guiding the definition of system requirements, system specifications and input/output process, etc.
  • Perform in-depth evaluations of customer and user needs to meticulously define and expertly coordinate system performance requirements, while ensuring seamless integration across all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture, meticulously considering aspects like affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory compliance, certification, product assurance, and other essential quality factors to ensure flawless mission success.
  • Carry out all necessary system relevant testing and integration
  • Drive the development of robust planning, organization, implementation, and systematic monitoring of requirements, architecture, design, tools, risk, issues, opportunities, and cutting-edge technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Skillfully resolve cross-functional organizational and technical challenges to streamline workflow and elevate work processes to new technical heights.
  • Implement application lifecycle management practices to effectively manage and track the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of complex system solutions
  • Lead configuration management processes to ensure version control and consistency across the system architecture and development artifacts
Years of Experience:
  • 15 years in advanced embedded systems development, and hardware and software integration, with a specialized focus on the automotive industry.
Required Education:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Desired Education:
  • PhD in electrical engineering or directly related field, showcasing an advanced level of technical expertise.
Skills:
  • Holistic and profound knowledge of the interdependencies and interactions of software, EE-architecture and vehicle/platform concepts in combination automotive relevant parameters such as homologation criteria, regulatory aspects and state-of-the art methodologies
  • Demonstrated mastery of systems engineering principles and concepts, successfully leading intricate system and risk analysis endeavors.
  • Adept at utilizing data-driven insights to make strategic decisions and effectively influence stakeholders.
  • Proven technical prowess, marked by creative problem-solving and independent thought.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on customer-focused excellence
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency with C/C++ programming languages and embedded software development tools to expertly engineer high-performance solutions.
  • Deep knowledge and application of automotive functional safety standards (ISO 26262), including hands-on experience with safety decomposition and analysis.
  • Expertise in employing requirements engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., DOORS, codebeamer, ReqIF) to manage and verify complex system requirements.
Desired Skills:
  • Extensive experience in designing cutting-edge infotainment and driver assistance systems to push automotive innovation forward.
  • In-depth knowledge of consumer electronics HW design architecture, optimizing integration and performance.
  • Familiarity with rapid SW environments for agile prototyping and validation, ensuring speed and efficiency in system development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, and other scripting languages, expanding technical versatility and impact.
  • Understanding of MarkUp languages e.g., XML, SysML, DSL
Work Flexibility
  • Travel to worldwide locations required

Compensation
Salary range is dependent on level of system engineer and factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualification and training. In the city of Santa Clara, California, the salary range for this position is $132,400 - $330,000.
