Sr. Relay Protection & Studies EngineerJob DescriptionAs a Sr. Relay Protection & Studies Engineer, you will be responsible for both relay settings and studies associated with substation P&C design projects. You will support large electric utility clients and renewable projects, including utility-scale solar farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and large wind farms connecting through substations.Hard SkillsDevelopment of relay protection schemes using microprocessor-based relaysProtective device coordination for transmission lines, buses, transformers, capacitor banks, circuit breakers, and reactorsDevelopment of logic settings to support relay schemesArea protective device coordination studiesTransmission level impact and feasibility studiesLoad Flow StudiesShort Circuit StudiesInsulation CoordinationArc Flash StudiesAdditional Skills & Qualifications8+ years' experience in transmission power system protection studies and relay settingsPE OR ability to obtain (Ideally PE)Have supported Renewable interconnection projects in the past (wind, solar, BESS)Preparing reports documenting the process and results of the studies performedPerforming reviews of studies performed by others and provide constructive feedbackWorking with clients to assist them in meeting their compliance requirementsMentoring less experienced associates to help them progressUtilizing good verbal and written communication skills with team members and clientsWorking with the Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer to define project objectives, prepare design estimates, and define project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects.Capable of acting as Lead Engineer on complex studies which require interfacing with the client, other engineering firms, and other departments. This includes the identification of study input requirements and coordinating the collection of the input information and data.Conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project.Why you should be interested:Our client is an established company with a small footprint in the Colorado region but they are striving towards growing that team and establishing a more dominant footprint in the market.
