The Role:
ColdSnap is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our team in Billerica, MA. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience working on complex mechanical, electrical, and thermo-fluid systems for the ColdSnap appliance. The Co-op will collaborate on developing, prototyping, and testing machine components, focusing on high-reliability designs. Your work will include designing systems with key machine design elements such as gears, linkages, shafts, and bearings. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented student with a passion for engineering.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with concept development for ColdSnap sub-systems using SolidWorks, incorporating machine elements such as gears, linkages, shafts, and bearings.
• Design and build prototypes that demonstrate high reliability and functionality.
• Conduct basic FEA and CFD analysis under supervision to assess design feasibility and optimize performance.
• Support the development of manufacturing processes and supply chain activities.
• Participate in the assembly and testing of prototypes, emphasizing reliability and durability.
• Conduct functional and reliability testing of components and systems.
• Participate in design reviews and project status updates.
• Assist with root cause analysis and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
• Document results and insights through reports and presentations.
• Manage multiple tasks effectively and complete assignments as directed.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Basic understanding of machine design principles and elements such as gears, linkages, shafts, and bearings.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
• Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, including injection molding and sheet metal.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and engage actively in tasks.
