Job Description

The Web Developer will be primarily responsible for developing and maintaining rich Internet applications in a Portal framework.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work with Web Developers, Database Developers, Business Analysts and other departments to architect and implement new functionality.
2. Propose new project features and website functionality.
3. Effectively handle multiple concurrent projects.
4. Lead projects to develop multi-tier web-based applications and communicate technical parameters and constraints to relevant teams.
5. Create web based applications from business specifications that meet brand guidelines.
6. Assist with planning and development of new user interfaces for web based tools.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field of study or relevant work experience.
2. Minimum 4 years of experience in the field of web development.
3. Demonstrated history of staying current with new technologies and skills.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

1. Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
2. Experience with version control systems.
3. Experience developing on a full project life cycle, from requirements to delivery.
4. Server side scripting experience with Ruby on Rails.
5. Experience with test driven development and deployment tools.
6. Understanding of Object Oriented programming techniques.
7. Experience working within a multi-tiered web application framework.
8. Experience with developing and integrating REST web API’s.
9. Experience creating web pages using standards compliant XHTML and HTML5.
10. Knowledge of relational databases and strong SQL data access skills.

MUST HAVE'S:

1. 5+ years of development experience.
2. 2+ years of Ruby experience.
3. TDD (Test Driven Development).
4. Experience with GitHub is preferred but not required.
