We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join the MyFitnessPal engineering team. Our users rely on the MyFitnessPal Android app to power their health and fitness journeys every day. About the team:

The Data & Search Quality team is focused on revolutionizing the user experience with personalized nutritional guidance. We’re leveraging user data and nutritional information to empower informed food decisions pre-consumption, aiming to seamlessly integrate into every part of the food journey and foster healthier lifestyles. What you’ll be doing:

  1. Assist in the technical direction of the MyFitnessPal Android app
  2. Continuously ensure the vitals of the app exceed customer expectations
  3. Empower & coach others on and outside the team to perform at their best
  4. Lead work on high impact features that bring value to our 13m+ users
  5. Use A/B testing to quickly iterate on user experiences
  6. Continuously modernize the MyFitnessPal Android app codebase while delivering on the product roadmap
  7. Improve code quality through unit testing with increased code coverage
  8. Work closely with your cross-functional product engineering team to solve problems
  9. Turn big ideas into simple, elegant solutions.

Qualifications to be successful in this role:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  2. 5+ years of experience in building, testing, releasing, and maintaining Android applications in Java and Kotlin
  3. Experience with Jetpack Libraries
  4. Advocate of clean code, good architecture, and great testing practices
  5. Holistic view of the product with experience working with cross-functional teams
  6. Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD infrastructure with the goal of continuously delivering value to our customers as often and safely as possible
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  8. Eager to learn and teach through collaboration
  9. Substantial experience with Git in a team environment
  10. Experience working with a relational database
  11. Comfort working with RESTful APIs
  12. Experience with MVVM or MVI
  13. Experience with Jetpack Compose
  14. Experience with Kotlin Coroutines

Travel Requirement: Approximately 10% travel will be required for this position

Job Location: Austin, TX preferred but open to remote

Bonus Points:

  1. Experience migrating a large legacy codebase to modern standards
  2. Experience with Dagger and Hilt
  3. Experience with GraphQL
