The Role

Lark is seeking a talented Senior Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team, which powers our data insights product for our business partners and enables us to offer Lark’s health coaching to patients. In this role, you will cultivate the talents of a team of data engineers to ensure that we deliver our data products flexibly to meet the diverse needs of both our external clients and internal colleagues in analytics. What You’ll Do

  1. Serve the needs of data consumers first and foremost (including business analysts, data scientists, and data products that serve external clients) to ensure they have accurate, accessible data
  2. Partner with product and engineering leads to make prioritization choices
  3. Partner with data leads on team strategy, with an emphasis on “disagree and commit” principle
  4. Collaborate with senior data engineers and analytics engineers to determine the best approach to ingest and transform new data sources
  5. Coordinate project plans with Product Managers and Technical Program Managers
  6. Build a culture of engineering best practices, with an emphasis on observability, documentation, and risk management
  7. Mentor and develop team members

What You’ll Need

  1. Experience leading and coaching a team of data engineers with varying levels of expertise
  2. Prior experience with cloud warehouses/lakehouses, especially Snowflake and Databricks
  3. Experience with orchestration frameworks like Airflow
  4. Familiarity with medallion architecture/data tiers
  5. Experience with both ETL and ELT (DBT is a plus)
  6. Experience with cloud technologies, AWS is a plus
  7. Experience with both SQL and NoSQL technologies, DynamoDB is a plus
  8. Knowledge of modern data-engineering best practices
  9. Familiarity with Spark, and Scala is a plus
  10. A dedication to code and data reliability and quality

The specific salary offered to a candidate will depend on various factors, including their location, job level, and verified job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for additional compensation, such as participation in a bonus program and stock awards, where applicable.

Compensation Range: $180.7K - $237.3K
