We are adding Field Engineers to our team to support major Heavy Civil Projects in Northern California! As a Field Engineer II, you will be the primary lead engineer on the Project, and report directly to the Project Manager. In this role, you will be expected to be a job-site leader in health and safety, ensuring quality of reporting and workmanship, and that all engineering work is completed in a professional and ethical manner. Your functions will include both office engineering functions like contract administration, project planning and scheduling, and project reporting, as well as Field Engineering/Resident Engineering functions.District OverviewKiewit’s Northern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in various types of work in the heavy civil, power, transportation, and water resource markets. Although most of our work is regionally based in Northern California, we also pursue various projects across the west coast. Our Northern California district has been extremely successful and have over $600 million dollars of work and plan to grow this region by $200 million in 2022. Our head office is based out of Fairfield, CA.Although this opportunity is with Kiewit’s Northern California District, we do work across the United States and require our employees to be open to relocation. We offer opportunities to work at various locations within the Northern California area, and anticipate future positions in Portland Oregon, and Washington State. We offer relocation assistance to job sites or per diem/travel options, but this role does require you to go where the projects are!ResponsibilitiesAssist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervisionPerform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and workAssist in the preparation of work plans and work packagesAssist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built dataAssist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheetsAssist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s)Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety trainingOrder and schedule material deliveriesPlan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsiteSupervise field operationsQualifications2+ years' construction field experience, preferably in Heavy Civil construction (roadway, concrete, asphalt, earthworks, Bridge, Rail, Water or Wastewater)Work experience in engineering and leading engineersUndergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or relatedAbility to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documentsAbility to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmentHighly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiativeStrong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first timeDemonstrated commitment to ethics and integrityPassion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurtStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsAbility to travel and relocate as neededStrong organization, time management, and attention to detailOther Requirements:Regular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environmentPerform work safely and effectively.
