Job Title: Senior Java Developer

Location: Chicago-Hybrid, Onsite 3 days per week

Chamberlain Advisors is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer for our direct client in the financial services industry. This is a Direct Hire position. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience in Java development, building high-speed, real-time, and batch solutions, and hands-on experience with Java version 8 and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field. Experience in the financial or clearing industry and systems is needed.

The Senior Java Developer will play a key role in developing and maintaining robust, high-speed data solutions that support critical financial market clearing and risk activities. This position requires strong technical skills in Java development, cloud technologies, and distributed computing frameworks, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive enterprise transformation into a data-driven organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in application development, a solid understanding of SDLC procedures, and experience with cloud migration and DevOps tools.

What You Will Be Accountable For:

  • Work collaboratively closely with business analysts, team leads, and the development team to develop scalable and resilient hybrid and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Provide application support for the development of real-time and batch applications, ensuring adherence to architecture frameworks and Agile methodologies.
  • Analyze requirements thoroughly, develop, test, and document software to ensure quality and proper implementation.
  • Follow Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) procedures to meet quality standards, functional requirements, architectural standards, performance benchmarks, audit compliance, and security protocols.
  • Conduct risk analysis for applications and projects, recommending quality improvements as necessary.
  • Provide production support and advice on system functionality and necessary fixes for production issues.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate any delays or defects in the software to team members and management.
  • Resolve security vulnerabilities to ensure system integrity and safety.

What Qualifications You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, Master's degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Java back-end development, building high-speed, real-time, and batch solutions.
  • Intermediate to Mastery level use of Spring, SpringBoot, and REST API.
  • Strong Java-based software development skills, with deep understanding of concurrency and multithreading.
  • Experience writing Linux commands and unit and integration tests using frameworks Junit with various databases (Relational, NoSQL).
  • Experience with high-speed distributed computing framework, preferably FLINK and Kafka Streams.
  • Experience with distributed message brokers, preferably Kafka.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and frameworks, preferably Splunk.
  • Experience in the financial or clearing industry and systems is needed.
