Are you a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion for aerospace innovation? Our client a landmark company involved in building the fastest (Mach 0.75), smallest, heavy-lift micro-turbine powered VTOL aircraft ever designed, are looking for an exceptional engineer to join our all-star team in Long Beach, CA . You will be working at the forefront of aerospace innovation, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with VTOL aircraft. As part of the team, you will play a key role in creating the next generation of aerospace technology.
Must-Have Qualifications :
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in aerospace or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering , or a similar technical degree from a well-regarded university.
- US citizenship is required (due to access to export-controlled data).
- Extensive experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and other forms of mechanical analysis.
- Highly skilled in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent).
- Prior experience as a Resident Engineer (RE) is strongly preferred.
- Experience at well-known aerospace companies is highly desirable.
- Must be able to work on-site in Long Beach, CA, with no expectations of relocation assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design airframe components, test fixturing, and support hardware development.
- Contribute to aircraft assembly and integration efforts (including drawing releases, tolerance analysis, and work instructions).
- Develop tooling solutions for fabrication, assembly, and testing of aircraft components.
- Hands-on fabrication and assembly of the aircraft.
- Support testing of airframe components, engines, and other hardware.
- Join the flight-test team, traveling to the test range and supporting the end-to-end test process.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of PLM, ERP , and other manufacturing planning systems.
- Experience with composites and metallics (e.g., welding, rolling, milling).
- Software scripting experience in any language.
