Our client in Irwin is seeking a 1st shift CNC Programmer to join the team.
Duties:
- Develops and optimizes machining programs for numerically controlled machine tools to ensure efficient and accurate production.
- Selects appropriate cutting tools and parameters based on engineering specifications to achieve quality parts economically.
- Utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software to calculate dimensional requirements and outline machining sequences.
- Analyzes drawings and design data to determine optimal cutting strategies, tool selections, and machining parameters.
- Coordinates machine program trials, ensuring accuracy and efficiency through detailed documentation and verification processes.
- Prepares geometric layouts and cutting paths using CAD software to guide machining operations.
Modifies existing programs to incorporate engineering changes or improvements, ensuring instructions are error-free.
- Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices by analyzing data and recommending enhancements.
- Leads special projects focused on process improvement, providing technical expertise and implementing changes as needed.
Supports machine setup and operation for process evaluation, development, and troubleshooting purposes.
- Maintains technical proficiency through participation in workshops and review of relevant publications.
- Provides leadership within the department, setting goals, mentoring junior staff, and supporting cross-functional teams as required.
- Shares knowledge and acts as a resource for problem-solving, collaborating with team members to achieve objectives.
- Manages updates to CAM and post-processing software to enhance operational efficiency.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Technical education or equivalent experience in machine tool trades requiring a broad knowledge of tooling and machining techniques, machine tool capabilities and operating procedures.
- Knowledge of machine programming languages and CNC Controls.
- Completion of related trade school program, associate degree, or equivalent external training in CNC Programming.
- Two or more years" of directly related experience.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Conversational Controls preferred.
