Senior Staff Civil Engineer

Must-Haves:

EIT (needed to sign off on reports).

Experience working in a materials lab.

Knowledge or somewhat familiar with DSA (Division of the State Architect).

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and talented Senior Staff Civil Engineer to join our Southern California team for our Irvine office and will report to the Project Manager.

This is an exempt position.

In this role, you will be supporting our materials testing and special inspections team that works on a variety of projects in the commercial, residential, industrial, energy, distribution, and educational facilities across Southern California.

Responsibilities:

Perform work that involves conventional types of plans, construction of conventional and critical structures.

Assignments usually include one or more of the following:

1. Review of project plans and specifications
2. Interpretation of current building codes and relevant engineering properties
3. Interpretation of field and laboratory testing and special inspections for use in preparation of routine reports with supervisor guidance
4. Analyses requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments
5. Client and stakeholder communication, interaction, and relationship-building
6. Coordinate the work of special inspectors, subcontractors, and others who assist in specific assignments
7. Interaction with field inspectors, dispatch, and materials testing lab personnel for quality control of construction
8. Using testing and construction standards such as Caltrans, DSA, ICC, ACI, and others for testing and reporting compliance
9. Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
10. Prepare proposals for testing and inspection services from take-off through cost estimates
11. Review/approve mix design submittals
12. Review and summarize laboratory test data
13. Prepare technical reports and proposals
14. Attend all required meetings
15. Follow company policies and procedures and all safety procedures

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

3-6 years of Civil or Geotechnical experience

Knowledge of Caltrans, DSA, ICC, or ACI

EIT Designation

Willing to obtain PE certification within two years

Familiarity with interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Strong reporting, proposals, and correspondence skills

Must possess a valid driver's license

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Comfortable working in an environment with moderate noise levels, at times

Must be able to pass a background check
