Use your advanced optical engineering skills to help Honeywell deliver innovative solutions across a variety of optical design opportunities. You will be empowered to think BIG and challenge yourself to understand more than just one aspect of the optical engineering discipline. You will work alongside some of the world's most talented engineers. You will apply research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical specifications You will contribute to the development of Honeywell's state-of-the-art optical instruments for military, space, and commercial applications, including Earth observation, atmospheric monitoring, space situational awareness, space science, and optical communications.. You will take a lead role as part of a multidisciplined team, in designing, testing, and validating products from prototype to market. Examples of products include a broad spectrum of optical and opto-mechanical elements, ranging from mirrors, lenses, and mounts; critical subsystems such as fore optics and detector assemblies; and up to full instruments incorporating electronics and mechanisms.Key ResponsibilitiesBid and proposal evaluation and writingEstimating labor and timelinesRequirements management and compliance evaluationOptical Simulation and DesignOptical parts packaging and drawing developmentPerformance specification review and developmentCooperating with and interacting with external vendorsCustomer site visitsLeading technical proposals and managing proposal schedules and budgetsUS Citizen Requirement:Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.YOU MUST HAVEBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematicsMinimum 8 years of relevant design and test experience.Good written communication skillsBusiness market requires that candidates must be eligible for TS/SCI clearance.WE VALUEAbility to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audienceKnowledge of optical communications: modulation schemes, test methods, free-space optical communications, systems-level integrationKnowledge of optical communications concept of operations (ConOps) and current SDA/ESTOL standards, able to deliver full solutions to customersExperience with US space and defense contractorsExperience costing and writing proposalsExperience evaluating RFP, RFIAbility to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisivenessExperience with complete engineering lifecycle (Design to volume production)Optical simulation experience (Zemax, Code-V, Light Tools, Trace Pro & other industry std. tools)Parametric mechanical modeling experience (Pro-Engineer, CREO and Solidworks)Experience with MatlabIndividuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, and are willing to do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.Ability to lead a Project, including application of budgetary controls and reporting.
