Senior Design Engineer

Our client is a nearly 70-year-old building materials manufacturing company in Northern Wisconsin that needs a Senior Design Engineer. You will report to the Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for the engineering design, development, and implementation of new products. The Senior Design Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary working team and needs to be a strong team player.

• Develop 2D and 3D engineering drawings and specifications based on calculations.
• Working with a project team, responsible for design and development per the project scope.
• Create and execute design solutions, using engineering fundamentals and logic backed up by practical technical problem solving.
• Deliver on-time high quality work results.
• Participation in project reviews.
• Utilize material testing, specifications preparation, and research investigations on product, parts, and components that meet engineering standards.
• Maintain proper records, execute change orders and develop BOMs.
• Keep current on relevant technical developments.
• Help coordinate, research and troubleshoot with co-workers and supervisors on engineering design problems.
• Mentor junior team members.

• BS in Mechanical Design or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of product design experience for a manufacturing environment.
• Must have experience with 3D design software (they use SolidWorks).
• Working knowledge in product commercialization processes needed
• Solid work history, they have no interest in job hoppers
• Knowledge and skills in applying engineering principles, methods, and practices as used in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication skills with all levels of staff and creative thinking skills to help solve complex customer requests.
