The Lead Software Engineer works as part of a team responsible for participating in the design, development, and testing of healthcare/business related applications and products. Lead Software Engineer primarily focus on more strategic development projects such as key new features or products.

This position will be 100% remote.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Lead a team developing complex software for healthcare applications.
2. Participate in the development of healthcare/business related applications.
3. Be part of a development team using modern development languages, Relational and NoSQL databases.
4. Work with Product Owners and teams to drive features and specifications, architecture design, implementation, and other software development responsibilities.
5. Create and update technical documents.
6. Provide technical mentoring and knowledge sharing to Software Engineers.
7. Contribute to business requirement definition and use case design as technical expert.
8. Serve as a go-to person for technical questions and provide mentoring and knowledge sharing to other Software Engineers at all levels.
9. Act as Scrum Master and/or Team Lead within projects (when required).
10. Ability to amplify the talents of the current team and attract, hire, mentor, and retain outstanding talent.

Minimum Qualifications Experience and Knowledge:

1. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
2. 7+ years of professional software development experience with good knowledge of Software Development Methodologies and processes.
3. Advanced experience in writing SQL queries and stored procedures.
4. Advanced knowledge of technologies including, but not limited to: Java, Spring, Kafka, SQL, and AWS Web Services.
5. Experience in Health Care Industry is highly recommended.

Experience / Skills Required:

1. Experience leading or managing a team of software engineers.
2. Excellent analytical, programming, and communication skills.
3. Demonstrate proficiency in developing and reviewing code using multiple platforms and programming languages.
4. Able to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused, changing environment.
5. Able to work independently, and be self-directed.
6. Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization.

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in Los Angeles, CA. The reasonable estimate, if hired in Los Angeles is $155,000.00-$175,000.00. Please note this information is specific to those hired in location. If this role is open to candidates outside of location, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
