The U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.

AmericanExpress.com is a critical digital channel for customers to enroll in American Express products, take advantage of the benefits of membership, stay in touch with the company and self-service through a multitude of products and applications.

The experiences we provide through the MYCA Web application play a key differentiating role for increasing the customer satisfaction, deepening the customer engagement and grow the revenue for the company. The Web Financial Technology team is looking for a strong, dynamic leader who can help shape our Technology and Product roadmap. You will be leading a global domain focusing on development responsibilities, which has direct impact on top customer journeys, company’s revenue generation and making a meaningful impact on digital customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong teams with a focus on technology and develop a safe team space where every team member has a strong sense of belonging and is passionate to achieve collective team objectives.
  • Build/Maintain strong, proactive relationships with our Amex Business, product, and Technology partners.
  • Establish Strong Working Relationship with Product Owners and technical teams across various organization.
  • Hire/Retain/ Mentor Engineers and promote strong engineering culture / Best practices.
  • Conduct performance assessments/ provide feedback and establish a feedback loop with Engineering team.
  • Be a compelling storyteller with experience communicating complex technical concepts and ideas to engineers and non- engineers alike.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
  • Accountable for driving roadmap and strategic direction within scope responsibilities
  • Ensure alignment of Architecture, strategies, tools/methods with software architects and developers.
  • Ability to adapt solutions to meet the broader needs of the portfolio.
  • Provide thought leadership around best practices and new/emerging concepts.
  • Be a Change Agent and challenge status quo while helping to drive the necessary changes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of largescale software product engineering, technology delivery in a complex environment, with depth in user experience development.
  • 5+ years of experience in building Web applications.
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on coding experience in the following technology environment - React, Redux, Flux, Angular, NodeJS, GraphQL, REST based APIs, Java, Couchbase, MongoDB, Akamai, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Google Cloud Platform, AWS.
  • Significant active Engineering experience in a complex environment and/or comparable experience.
  • Successful Engineering and deployment of large-scale web products in an agile product development environment.
  • Ability to lead a team and negotiate and influence strategic partners within the team and externally in the broader organization.
  • Ability to build long term relationships across the organization.
  • DevOps knowledge for highly available IT infrastructure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence technical and business audiences including those at the Executive leadership level.
  • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing technical professionals.

Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
