Job Description Summary:

PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 (Ruby on Rails) in San Jose, CA

Job Duties:

  1. Lead projects with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative processes and create software solutions that meet business requirements.
  2. Design, develop and deploy complex, multi-tier distributed software applications and performance sensitive systems.
  3. Document and test software systems, modify developed systems and rapidly iterate as needed.
  4. Build and implement robust testing scripts/systems.
  5. Design and develop new APIs.
  6. Maintain close relationships with Product Managers and Technical leads, communicate and digest real-time feedback, and build story cards on a daily basis.
  7. Participate in architectural discussions and provide software development plans.
  8. Provide technical and project leadership, mentor junior engineers, and operate in a cross-functional, agile team.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

  1. Building software or web applications with object-oriented or functional programming languages.
  2. Software Development background with ability to analyze and improve existing codebase.
  3. Building solutions utilizing an agile approach.
  4. Software configuration management principles and tools, source code version control (e.g., git/GitHub) and issue/bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA).
  5. Payment systems and processor APIs.
