Test Engineer II


Position Summary:

Responsible for developing, creating and executing Design Verification Plans (DVP). Work with design group, project leaders, and test assets in a matrixed organization to drive successful project outcomes.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Development of metrics, test methods, procedures, data capture, and reports for new products
  • Will be required to conduct testing in addition to advising and supporting the training and activities of peers within skill set
  • Continuous improvement of the DVP process
  • Decides on pass/fail criteria of projects
  • Design test fixtures using 3D modeling
  • Create custom test setups
  • Responsible for operating data acquisition systems and using outputs to boost development, test efficiency, and product performance
  • Responsible for operation and development of lab test equipment such as a shock dyno, MTS hydraulic system, tensile tester, data acquisition sensors.
  • Manages 5 to 10 projects concurrently
  • Utilize and improve on vehicle data acquisition methods to assist in dynamic vehicle tuning.
  • Calculate and setup theoretical vehicle starting specifications (springs, damping curves, etc.) for various vehicle use cases.
  • Operate shock dyno's and interpret characterization data to assist with vehicle tuning practices


Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Proficient PC skills required: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, 3D modeling
  • Ability to perform extensive hands on work by rebuilding shock absorbers, operating shock dyno's
  • Ability to use Matlab, VB, ladder logic, C++ Java, or any other programming language that would benefit data processing and analysis.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and FEA a plus
  • Ability to bring fresh ideas to improve company innovation and profitability

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in either defense industry, suspension damper development, power sports industry, or automotive industry preferred
  • Experience with setting up new test equipment/machines preferred
  • On vehicle data acquisition and general wiring/electronics experience preferred
  • Manual lathe, mill, welding, fabrication experience preferred

  • Office/Test Lab Field (Desert) Environment Environment
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer
  • May lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time
