Are you passionate about building scalable infrastructure, compute, and big data pipelines for modern search engines? Join the Apple Services Engineering AI/ML Search Platform team! We support multiple line of business teams responsible for Apple media product searches, including App Store, Music, TV, Podcasts, and Fitness+. As part of our missions, we’re upgrading our search platform to the next-generation large language model based engine, and enhancing thousands of compute and big data pipelines to ensure greater scalability and reliability.
Description
As a full stack ML engineer, you will help to upgrade to the next generation search engine, which powers all Apple media product searches, as well as recommendations, hints, and public developer APIs. Your work will ensure a seamless migration with zero impact on customer experiences. Additionally, you will contribute to enhancing the reliability of our large-scale compute and data pipelines by developing new generic data validation and quality gating framework. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn the full stack of modern search engine, including both online serving and offline data processing. You will collaborate with both ASE AI/ML engineering and science line of business teams to upgrade to the next generation search engine, and onboard them to the new data validation and quality gating framework, which will improve data pipeline quality, reduce compute and storage costs, and minimize future migration engineering efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
Relevant experience as a software engineer
Proficient in Java, Go, Scala, C++ or other object oriented programming language
Understanding of information retrieval fundamentals including indexing, recall, ranking, etc.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
