THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated Marine Engineering Technical Lead & Project Manager to support a commercial shipbuilding client in a detail design engineering effort. You will provide technical guidance to the team, ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations, and oversee all aspects of project execution to deliver successful outcomes on time and within budget.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for assigned marine engineering projects, including system design, equipment selection, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to deadlines.
- Maintain management insight into all aspects of the program and ensure the Government Program Management Office (GPMO) and Contractor has insight into all program activities.
- Manage and mentor a team of marine engineering professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Execute the effort with the appropriate management controls and processes to ensure contract requirements are met.
- Perform daily management of all contract support operations and personnel.
Location: Fully remote available within most CONUS locations. An ideal candidate will be local to THOR offices in Arlington, VA/Washington, DC and able to support partial onsite time.
Typical Physical Activity: Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.
Anticipated Travel: Up to 10% travel anticipated.
Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related field.
- At least eight (8) years of experience in the maritime industry, with a proven track record of leading and managing marine engineering projects and experience in ship construction.
- In-depth understanding of marine engineering systems, including propulsion, navigation, and auxiliary systems.
- Strong project management skills, including experience with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Experience in drawing development management preferable in ShipConstructor (most preferred), SolidWorks, and/or AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in the use of relevant marine engineering software and project management tools.
- Experience performing engineering calculations to support design of marine systems.
- An ideal candidate will possess a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
