Job Summary:

The Senior Information Developer is an expert in writing, extracting, curating, and refining technical information to enable our Dolby Vision customers to integrate, test and get approval to use Dolby Vision technologies. Working closely with diverse, distributed project teams, the Senior Information Developer, Imaging Playback identifies essential technical information for end-users (including silicon partners (SoCs/ICs), consumer electronics manufacturers, and other video playback device manufacturers) to use Dolby Vision solutions successfully. This role combines the use of cutting-edge technologies, UX research, and applying data to drive information experience for content creators. The Senior Information Developer collaborates with project teams to agree on priorities, timeframes, and deliverables. This role also offers guidance to other development team members, and continuously expands their knowledge and skills to stay informed about industry developments and able to respond to technological advancements as they occur.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Distill information from multiple sources to produce concise, accurate, and timely documentation, tailored to the user personas.
  • Lead content initiatives together with project teams to uncover user insights and needs, to feedback into the information experience.
  • Set effective project priorities and negotiate timelines based on objectives, project requirements, and ongoing tasks.
  • Update the content continuously to prepare for subsequent releases.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes for generating and delivering optimized content to users.
  • Share knowledge through training, mentorship, and guidance to team members to build their capabilities.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate broad capabilities across writing, extracting, curating, and refining technical information for customers and end-users.
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Mass Communication, Information Design, Image Processing, or a related field.
  • 4-5 years' experience developing effective technical content and solutions, preferably for video and imaging products.
  • An understanding of UX research and emerging technologies like generative AI.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead content initiatives.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Open to experiment with new technologies and continuously build new skills.
  • Commitment to providing mentorship and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Fluency with technical writing formats like DITA, XML, Markdown, and docs-as-code.
  • Proficiency using tools including Oxygen XML Editor, Git, Jira, Confluence, MS Office suite.

Preferred Experience(s):

  • An understanding application of user data/analytics and personalized instructional information.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner/Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with video compression technologies: h.264/AVC, HEVC, AV1.
  • Experience with streaming protocols: MPEG-TS, DASH, and HLS.
  • Experience with video players and OS platforms: Android, Fire TV OS and Exoplayer, Roku, Apple and AV Foundation, web-based players.
  • Knowledge of image processing and color science. Exposure to high-dynamic-range video is a plus.
  • Knowledge of different types of consumer displays and their capabilities.
  • High level knowledge of video workflows from content creation to playback.
  • Knowledge/experience with software development and scripting.

The Atlanta Area base salary range for this full-time position is $104,900 - $126,200, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
