Job Position: IT Systems Engineer - Infrastructure & Automation
Responsibilities and Time Allocation:
- Server Administration (4hrs)
- Physical Servers
- Perform regular software and hardware updates to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage file systems and server configurations, ensuring security compliance.
- Monitor server alerts and responds to any incidents or issues promptly.
- Manage and maintain virtual machines (VMs) hosted on physical servers.
- Cloud Servers
- Update and maintain cloud-based servers and virtual environments.
- Oversee file system management, security configurations, and server alerts.
- Ensure cloud server configurations meet best practices and security standards.
- Physical Servers
- Backup Administration (2hrs)
- Physical Backups
- Manage and monitor network backups, ensuring data integrity and recoverability.
- Cloud Backups
- Oversee 365 backups, ensuring cloud data is backed up securely and recoverable.
- Physical Backups
- Network Administration (2hrs)
- Maintain and troubleshoot the phone system, switches, firewalls, and WiFi networks.
- Ensure network security by managing configurations and monitoring for threats.
- Implement and manage security protocols to protect network infrastructure.
- 365 Administration (8hrs)
- Develop and automate solutions using Power Automate and PowerShell for administrative tasks.
- Manage and maintain the Office 365 environment, ensuring compliance with security and performance standards.
- MDM Administration (6hrs)
- Deploy and manage software updates, configuration profiles, and endpoint compliance.
- Implement and maintain security profiles and compliance standards for all mobile and desktop devices.
- Manage Autopilot for device setup and configuration, utilizing PatchMyPC for automated updates.
- Oversee Apple Business Manager for managing Apple devices within the organization.
- Hardware (2hrs)
- Conduct infrastructure repair, replacement, and upgrades as needed.
- Ensure all hardware functions optimally and meets organizational standards.
- Software Administration
- Active Directory: Manage user accounts, group policies, and directory services.
- Azure: Oversee various services including databases, containers, compute resources, DevOps, and hybrid/multicloud setups.
- Manage identity, integration, migration, monitoring, networking, security, storage, and web/mobile services within Azure.
- Additional Software: Administer and support tools such as Ignition Cloud, SonicWall, Veeam, Mitel, VMware, Eplan, Sendgrid, and Office 365 services like Exchange and Power Automate.
- Project Duties (15hrs)
- Lead and participate in automation projects using PowerShell, Power Automate, and other automation tools.
- Design and implement solutions to enhance system efficiencies and streamline processes.
- Auditing (2hrs)
- Conduct network audits to verify configurations, security, and performance.
- Audit hardware assets to ensure they meet compliance and organizational standards.
- Documentation (2hrs)
- Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure, configurations, and processes.
- Review and update existing documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Professional Development (1hr)
- Engage in training and research to stay current with industry developments and best practices.
- Participate in online courses and workshops to further develop skills related to system engineering, infrastructure, and automation.
- Experience with PowerShell
- Experience with PowerAutomate
- 3-5 year's experience as a Systems Engineer
- Experience with Microsoft 365
- Experience with Azure
- Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
- Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
