Position Summary

The Software Engineer works within the GDK (Game Development Kit) organization to support the development of compelling game experiences for casino products. The global GDK organization focuses on the development of a gaming framework for use in all Light And Wonder gaming applications. The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver high quality and timely software for all assigned projects. It will require the development, support, and maintenance of a reusable gaming framework used by multiple Game Development Studios around the globe. This position must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and is accountable for the thorough implementation of all tasks assigned.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement essential gaming features following direction from game design within the constraints of gaming jurisdiction requirements
  2. Develop expert knowledge of GDK code base and subsystems and contribute to its development, advancement, and maintenance
  3. Seek improvements to existing code and processes
  4. Follow internal coding standards, engineering best practices, and team processes in all tasks
  5. Work closely with other departments on identifying and creating reusable software components
  6. Work independently to design and implement solutions for projects and tasks of moderate to high complexity
  7. Provide timely, accurate project reports and information to lead engineer
  8. Maintain up to date knowledge on new programming methods, best coding practices, and new software technologies
  9. Maintain understanding of competitive products and technology

Qualifications

Education:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
Required Experience:
  1. 2+ years of professional programming experience in a software development team
  2. C++, C# development
  3. Object Oriented programming and design patterns
  4. Experience with development tools including IDEs, debuggers, bug tracking and source control systems required
Preferred Experience:
  1. Game Development experience preferred
  2. Unity or equivalent game engine is strongly preferred
  3. Able to understand hardware engineering and hardware components
  4. Python, batch, PowerShell scripting preferred
  5. Confluence, Jira, or equivalent project development tools preferred
  6. Linux/Unix experience is a plus
  7. Automated Testing
  8. Familiar with continuous integration/deployment
  9. Experience with virtualization is a plus
  10. Software design and architecture experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  1. C# .Net experience is required
  2. TDD
  3. Agile Development practices
  4. Use of Performance monitors for optimizations
  5. Code reviewing skills
