Network Engineer

Responsibilities

We are HIRING! Our FDA Program is seeking a Network Engineer to join our high-performing team. This position is onsite. Must be able to work onsite 5 days a week.

What You'll Do

• Monitor and maintain a production environment which includes routers, switches, load balancers, remote VPN, proxies, DNS, DHCP, NTP and IPAM.
• Administer network management tools to include configuration, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and management of system baselines.
• Solid knowledge of routing protocols, network hardware and software, security technologies, and network infrastructure.
• Plan and execute Network/Security changes and ensure performance and security are maintained.
• Install, configure, service, repair, and maintain hardware and software for network services, storage and network devices, and server systems.
• Implement required hardware upgrades and repair inoperative devices to maintain mission capability.
• Install, terminate, reroute, and test copper and fiber optic cabling associated with offsite locations. Coordinate material and tool supply requirements for all cable and equipment rack installation projects.
• Complete all required installation documentation and be knowledgeable in network cable installation techniques and labeling schemes.
• Maintain network communication closets and equipment racks to include cabling and elevation drawings.
• Define cable plant expansion paths and routing of cable according to client standards.
• Make recommendations to engineering for improvements.
• Work with vendors to resolve issues and platform upgrades.
• Provide escalation support as required.
• Certify solutions prior to deploying them into production environments.
• Work with engineering to understand changes and provide input as required.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 2 years with BS/BA; 6 years with no degree.
• Over 3-5 years of experience supporting an enterprise network environment.
• Experience in installing, cabling, and configuring network equipment.
• Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MP-BGP, IS-IS).
• Knowledge of MPLS, Layer2 VPN, Layer3 VPN.
• Familiarity with security practices (audits, planning, design, implementation, testing, and management) for LAN/WAN/MAN internetworking technology.
• Experience with policy and procedure review and implementation.
• Familiarity with networking and application protocols.
• Experience with network monitoring via SNMP, NetFlow.
• Experience with the installation, configuration, integration, and management of routers, switches, load balancers, proxies, etc.
• Knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of IP and core IP technologies.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
• Must be willing to work onsite 5 days a week.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.

• Active CCNA.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
